CWU Welcomes Visiting Mission from Jumonji University in Japan

Professor Liu Liqun, President of China Women’s University and its Vice President, Liu Meng, welcomed a visiting mission of officials and top professors from Jumonji University in Japan on June 2. Relevant officials and staff of the CWU attended the follow-up conference.

The Japanese visiting mission, led by Sekura Michitoshi Vice President of the institution, was guided on a tour around the CWU after its arrival. The route took them from the library to the university’s display area, and to other sites across the campus.

At the following conference, Professor Liu Liqun expressed a warm welcome to the Japanese guests and sincerely thanked them for the care and help Jumonji University has provided over the years for CWU exchange students. Sekura Michitoshi expressed his hope that a better understanding of CWU could be developed by officials of his university through the visit, so as to enhance communication with CWU students and better provide services for their studies in Japan.

Professor Liu Liqun said that developing into an international university is a keynote policy in CWU’s future plans, and Jumonji University serves as an important partner in Japan for global communication and exchange. She hoped that more students from Jumonji University would participate in exchange activities with CWU, further promote cooperation, and achieve a win-win outcome for both places of learning.

Professor Liu Meng made a brief introduction of CWU’s features, its organizational model, its departments, courses, academic researches and services for society.

Afterward, a professor from Jumonji University delivered a lecture on Ikebana—the Japanese art of flower arranging—helping the Chinese teachers and students present gain a better knowledge of the history, styles and skills involved in this unique Japanese cultural export.

In March, 2013, an agreement on exchange and cooperation was reached between CWU and Jumonji University. An outcome of the current event was that friendly relationships have since been maintained and new one established. Around 30 students from CWU’s vocational college are now receiving education at the Japanese partner university, and will be eligible to apply later for further bachelor study.
