CWU Students Win Prize in 14th National Diplomatic Protocol Competition



Students from China Women’s University (CWU) participated in the 14th National Diplomatic Protocol Competition for College Students recently. The group won seventh prize and took the title of Best Team after they had faced players from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Fudan University, University of Macau, China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) and 22 other institutions.

Based the theme of "Inheriting Chinese Traditional Etiquette, Generosity Embraces the Universe", the event was held in the school hall of the CFAU on November 28.

CWU held its second Diplomatic Protocol Competition on November 3, and selected four students for the national competition. They were: Guo Boya, majored in social work at the School of Gender and Social Development; Zhu Meihua, majored in preschool education at the School of Children Development and Education; and, Ming Xiaoyu and Zhou Minqi, bothmajored in broadcasting and hosting at the School of Art.

Organizers invited Gu Jinsong, teacher from the Department of Foreign Languages, to train the players and develop their professional knowledge. The players also read books about foreign cultures, diplomacy, history and international regulations in preparation for the competition. 

All players listened a lecture given by Zhang Ling, a famous expert on etiquette in China, and attended a forum on competition experience presided over by Ma Baofeng, officer from the protocol department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the competition, CWU players thought calmly, dealt flexibly with an unexpected situation, and responded quickly. They presented decency, confidence, and outstanding personnel quality with their abundant reserves of knowledge. In the process of discussion, they took full advantages of the teamwork, and greatly impressed the audience.

The event aimed to popularize the knowledge of foreign affairs and diplomatic protocol, and promote China’s integration with international standards. It received strong support from the protocol department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant departments. Focused on international etiquette, the competition broadened students’ horizons and improved their diplomatic manners through problem solving, discussion, role-play and other activities.
