Ding Zhangang Speaks at the Conference for English Majors of Colleges and Universities in Beijing

Ding Zhangang Speaks at “The Fourth Annual Session of the Joint Conference for English Majors of Colleges and Universities in Beijing”

    On Jun. 5, 2016, Ding Zhangang, Director of the Research Center for Translation Studies (RCTS), and Shi Xiaochun, Dean of the Department of Foreign Languages of China Women’s University, attends “The Fourth Annual Session of the Joint Conference for English Majors of Colleges and Universities in Beijing”. The theme of the session is “Teachers’ Development under the Guidance of National Standards of Teaching Quality for Undergraduate English Majors”.
    Zhao Zhongxiu, Vice President of University of International Business and Economics, and Sun Youzhong, Secretary General of the Steering Committee for Professional Teaching of Foreign Languages and Literature in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education, respectively deliver a speech. A number of well-known experts and scholars in the foreign language teaching circles, such as Prof. Wen Qiufang, Prof. Sun Youzhong, Prof. Wang Lifei, Prof. Feng Yihan, Prof. Gu Peiya, preside over the round table and answer questions raised by the participants.
    During Sub-Session One, Ding speaks on the topic of “Renew Ideas and Innovate through Practice” and shares his understanding of how to improve the qualities of college English teachers. He briefs the participants on the history and status quo of the English major of China Women’s University, and, with the development of RCTS over the past four years as a case in point, he emphasizes that college English teachers cannot but improve their comprehensive qualities through practice in research, teaching and service, and that such improvement must connect with the social requirements for talents, the strongholds of their college or university, as well as students’ sense of gain, because the development of both teachers and students calls for a community of shared destiny to be built through practice and innovation.
